Jack Petchey Awards Presented To Sqn

Cadets and staff from the Squadron attended the annual Jack Petchey Award Ceremony at the Camden Centre in London on Monday 25 Jan.

The Jack Petchey Foundation gives grants to programmes and projects that benefit young people aged 11-25. Since it has been established, the Foundation has given away over £50 million in grants and awards – including supporting the Squadron’s trip to the USA in October 2008 – but the major focus of their work is the Achievement Award Scheme.

An Outstanding Achievement Award is given to a cadet who demonstrates leadership or determination in a special way. The 2009 winners showed a range of inspirational qualities, and were rewarded for their exemplar effort with their Awards. Well done to Cpl Alice Wilcox, and Cadets Phillip Blake, Nathan Thomas, Charlie Turner and James Whipps for their achievements.

The Award Ceremony brings together all of the winners from across London Wing, so that they can be presented with medals in front of their parents and friends in an energetic and celebratory evening.
