Cadets Get To Grips With New Rifle

1921 cadets joined the first London Wing Shoot of 2010, with the opportunity to fire the new Cadet Rifle drawing the attention of the Squadron’s top shots.

The new rifle has been rolled out across the Corps over the course of the year, and this is London’s first chance to get involved with training and competition on the new platform. But the changes are more than just technical issues, as Sgt Pat Adams explained:

“The new rifle takes a little getting used to, but offers huge potential for improving cadet shooting. Cadets can concentrate on their accuracy and consistency, rather than having to change position each time they shoot.”

Proving this quite effectively, Cdt Lewis achieved his first marksmanship award during the shoot; together with the other cadets who effectively requalified on the rifle during the day. Our thanks to Flt Lt Ibbitson and his team for an excellent shoot. Let’s hope for similar success as we continue through the year!
